Organizing

  • Sort - inventory of what you have
  • Purge - chuck stuff so you have less
  • Assign - put stuff left over into zones
  • Containerize - put the stuff in the zones in containers
  • Equalize - maintain system, keep it current

Tips:
  • Don't zig-zag, stay in one room and have a 'belongs elsewhere' pile to take when you leave
  • Papers - only transient papers should be on your desk, the rest should be filed
