- Sort - inventory of what you have
- Purge - chuck stuff so you have less
- Assign - put stuff left over into zones
- Containerize - put the stuff in the zones in containers
- Equalize - maintain system, keep it current
Tips:
- Don't zig-zag, stay in one room and have a 'belongs elsewhere' pile to take when you leave
- Papers - only transient papers should be on your desk, the rest should be filed
